Swimming and School

It’s been another few hectic weeks here. We again went to Izu just over a week ago and this time we got to go swimming. It was great. We played in the water for near on two hours and the time passed faster than we imagined. Rina was terrified of the water at first, she would only sit near the shoreline of the beach and wouldn’t even dare to venture out to get her feet wet. But after doing this for about ten minutes she got the courage – and Mum’s helping hand – to go out in the water. Once she was there we couldn’t stop her. She was in and out in and out screaming with excitement. She even managed to get out in the deeper water, that was at times over Dad’s head.

SO we finally got our summer swim, right on the last weekend of the “official summer”. It has still been summer like here in Tokyo though, thirty plus degrees everyday. Cool biz (Japanese Only) officially ended on September 1st, now we are approaching Warm Biz (Japanese Only), which begins on October 1st. A few weeks without any biz one only has to imagine. Getting back to it, we finally got that swim in and it was a great day. Dad even managed to catch a few waves attempting to body surf and avoid the throngs of Japanese with various forms of floation devices. He had more than a few near misses and one direct hit – from a body board. Though the young lad was very apolegtic, in both English and Japanese – his friend just slapped him over the head and called him a fool. To be fair though it was not his fault… just the overcrowding on the beach.

The other BIG happenings around here is that Rina has started going to a pre-school again. She started on Sepetember 2nd. Mum took her on her first day, just to settle the nerves. Apparently that must of worked really well as Mum talked to the teacher after the day and Rina was a little shy at first but soon moved into her more forward ways. Apparently as it was the first day back after the summer break, each of the kids in the class got to go to the front of the class and say something about their summer holiday. The were given a mic to speak into. Rina, being Rina, loves using mics. She got up in front of all the other kids and told them about her summer – or something else as it was quite uncompreshensible, the teacher said. No backward steps from this girl.

The other thing is that they wear a uniform to the pre-school. SO Rina looks really grown up when she puts it on. She seems to love it as well. Mum and Dad hid the school bag and other things when she came home as she just wanted to keep wearing them and cried when she had to take them off – it’s only early days right – she’ll want to take it off asap soon enough.

So that’s all from here for the moment….
As always…. take care
